CULTURAL HIGHLIGHTS OF CENTRAL TIBET (8 Days)
The drive from Gonggar airport
to Tsedang enlightens you on Tibet`s early history. However, Tsedang is a
very prime city. The Ymabu Lakhang is a palace, the first fortified house in
Tibet, transformed into a monastery. Inside is an assembly of most of the
important figures from Tibet`s early history. the Smaye Monastery lies in
the middle of an arid land, standing magnificent in its gleaming façade. It
was at Samye that the debate, which decided that the Tibetan Buddhist should
follow Indian teaching, took place. The deep blue-green lake, Yamdrok Tso,
is one of Tibet`s largest. Gyantse is what everyone dreams a Tibetan town to
be. Its main monastery, the Pelkor Chode, serve the Gelug, Sakya and
Buluk orders. An architectural masterpiece, built in the style of a 108
sided mandala is the Kumbum stupa. It is the most revered stupa in the Tibet
and houses 112 chapels of which only 23 are open to the public. Some 90 km
away is the town of Shigatse Tibets second largest city, reached via narrow
gorge and broad river valleys. Tashilumpo Monastery the seat of the Penchen
lama, is one of Tibet`s biggest Gelugpa monasteries. It was originally built
by the first Dalai Lama and image of the Maitreya and the embalmed bodies of
the past Panchen Lama.

SEVEN NIGHTS IN TIBET
This journey follows the ancient trading route over the high Himalayas
passes which for centuries linked the two fabled cities of the Kathmandu and
Lhasa. Driving along the Araniko highway, named after the great Nepalese
artisan who traveled to Lhasa in the twelfth century, we begin to witness
the classic & fascinating culture, landscapes and religious spirit of the
ancient, mystical land. Driving from the lush valleys we cross through deep
gorges and passes over 16000 ft. to reach the high, grand, barren, Tingri
plains of Tibet and the glistening snow covered peaks in the
horizon-panoramic vistas of Everest, Cho Oyu, Gyachung Kang, and other giant
Himalayan peaks. We visit Shegar, for its former “Crystal Shinning”
monastery and Shigatse, the second largest city of Tibet and an abode of the
Panchen Lama. We explore Gyantse, the ancient caravan trading town and its
magnificent Kumbum stupa and monastery, drive along the shores of deep blue
Yamdrok lake, and traverse over the final passes before descending to the
Lhasa valley and the golden spires of the Potala Palace. In Lhasa we visit
palaces, temples and holy sites (The Jokhang. Norbulinka, Potala), wander
the age-worn streets of Barkhor bazaar, mingling with pilgrims, monks and
traders and explores the great monasteries of Sera and Derpung. We finish
our journey with a spectacular flight over the Himalayas back to Kathmandu

Mt.
EVEREST CHHOMOLUNGMA
“Mother goddess of the Earth”(12
Days)
Mt. Everest,
the name itself speaks volumes. It is the highest peak on Earth and stands
snowless at the peak and during winter because of its steep slopes. Just to
have a glimpse is a dream indeed, to stand at its base camp and blatant
beauty at close range is an experience of a lifetime.
A journey to Everest is the
dream of many a mountaineer trip takes the traveler to the classic, early
approaches to north side. After a spectacular flight close past the summit
and other giant snow- covered Himalayan peak we began to Lhasa, the
spiritual and cultural center of Tibet. We go to monasteries of Sera and
Derpung and visit ancient palace sites the (Potala, Jokhang, Norbulinka).
After a visit to Samye first monastery, we drive over to the old trading…..Gyantse
and Shigatse, exploring its monuments, before Shekar for our approach to Mt.
Everest. We than drive up over the Pangla pass for panoramic view of Everest
and her sister peaks before descending to the Rongbuk valley and its
monastery which is reputed to be the highest in the world. The sitting of
the monastery with its full view is simply magnificent. As we walk up to the
base camp, the majestic bulk of Mt. Everest with all its grand features and
historical mountaineering memories fills up the head of the valley. We
retrace our route to the Tingri plains and after a final look at Everest,
continue our journey over the high passes back to Kathmandu.
